Leeds Rhinos star Lachie Miller has been punished further after an unsuccessful appeal regarding his three-match ban.
Miller was one of many players to be charged by the disciplinary panel this week, with the full-back being given a Grade E charge for “unnecessary contact with a player who is or may be injured.”
As a result, he accrued enough penalty points to be hit with a three-game ban, meaning he will miss the club’s home tie with Huddersfield Giants on Friday night, as well as games against St Helens and Toulouse Olympique.
The club opted to appeal the decision, after feeling they had a strong case in Miller’s defence.
Boss Brad Arthur said to the press today: “We are going to appeal it. Lachie is a person of great character and we want to make sure we are representing his character.
“He is a really good person so we want to appeal. I can’t say too much, we just need to let it run its course.”
However, after being unsuccessful at tonight’s hearing, Miller has now been handed a further five penalty points – though that is not enough to take him over the threshold for a further suspension.
Leeds are set to play youngster Fergus McCormack in his place this week, in what will be his Super League debut.
