Leeds Rhinos injury latest as six ruled out of Wigan Warriors clash

Leeds Rhinos

Six members of Leeds Rhinos’ 30-strong full-time squad are unavailable for Ash Handley’s testimonial game at home to Wigan Warriors on Sunday.

Second-rower Morgan Gannon is set to feature for the first time in a year, following a concussion layoff, but two of coach Brad Arthur’s first-choice 17 are ruled out. Here’s who is missing and when they could be back.

Lachie Miller

The full-back missed Rhinos’ final two games of 2024 with a hamstring injury and aggravated the problem in the off-season. Coach Brad Arthur said he is now carrying a calf muscle issue and is likely to be out of action until around Super League round four, in March.

Jarrod O’Connor

O’Connor is set to miss a competitive game for the first time since April, 2022, when Rhinos’ season begins next month. The hooker suffered a knee ligament injury against Wakefield Trinity on Boxing Day and hopes to be available for Super League round three or four.

Alfie Edgell

Leeds Rhinos’ back-up full-back suffered a fractured jaw in training just before Christmas. He underwent surgery, with a recovery time of up to 12 weeks.

Ned McCormack

The rookie centre hasn’t played since suffering hamstring damage in the act of scoring against Warrington last July and remains sidelined with a calf injury.

Max Simpson

The centre is back in training and hopes to return to playing next month, for the first time since an anterior cruciate ligament injury 24 months ago.

Fergus McCormack

The teenage half-back also has a calf muscle problem. Like his elder brother, no return date has been given.
