Leeds Rhinos will be without Brodie Croft for the rest of the month at the very least, the club have confirmed. Croft picked up a hamstring injury in the Rhinos‘ loss to Warrington Wolves last time out in Super League.
The half-back has been assessed and scans have seen him ruled out until the start of May at the earliest. Leeds insist there will be an update at the start of the month, ahead of Magic Weekend in regards to how the Australian has responded to the treatment.
It means Croft will not only miss next week’s game against Salford Red Devils on Thursday night, but he will also sit out of the Good Friday clash with Huddersfield Giants at Headingley and the meeting with Hull KR on April 25.
The injury potentially opens the door for Matt Frawley to step back into the fold after being relegated to the reserves ranks in recent weeks. Brad Arthur will consider his options of course but the obvious choice would be to select Frawley alongside Jake Connor, who has impressed since making the switch from Huddersfield.
Leeds play St Helens at St James’ Park at Magic Weekend, but it remains to be seen if Croft will be fit enough to travel to the north east.
Croft has featured in all but one game for Leeds this season but he has come under some criticism after struggling for form with the ball in hand. In five Super League games he has mustered just one assist and he’ll be hoping to see his form turn following his eventual return to the side.
The news comes as a blow for Leeds, who are in desperate need of some positive momentum in Super League.
