Leeds Rhinos hero joins star-studded back division at newly named Leigh Leopards

Leigh Leopards have made a major statement.

In fact they made a number of major statements all of which followed their rebrand as the Leigh Leopards for 2023.

This preceded a number of major signings starting with three-time Super League Champion Zak Hardaker and star centre Ricky Leutele.

Then five Warrington stars, including former Castleford Tigers star Ollie Holmes, were added ad Adrian Lam, Chris Chester and Derek Beaumont put together an amazing squad that could more than secure safety in Super League next year but also push for play-off rugby.

Leigh were relegated after one season in 2005, 2017 and 2021 and are determined to not let that happen in 2023 and really compete and the squad they’ve assembled will certainly allow them to do so especially as they have a star-studded division of outside backs.

The Leopards have the like of Leutele, Blake Ferguson, Zak Hardaker and Josh Charnely and have also added two-time Super League Champion and three-time Challenge Cup winner Tom Briscoe who has signed a two year deal with the Leopards keeping the former Hull FC star at the club until the end of 2024.

Briscoe scored nine tries in six major finals at Leeds including a record breaking five in the 2015 Challenge Cup Final.

Thus he will add even more pedigree and experience to there outstanding outside backs which is set to still include Leeds Rhinos target Nene MacDonald although there is still come confusion around whether this will be the case considering they have eight overseas players and just seven quota spots.

This has of course led to the departure of Caleb Aekins based on the squad Leigh named today.
