Rugby league and the community are always entwined and at the heart of the community often comes charity and it’s been reported that last week Leeds Rhinos joined forces with the Rhinos’ netball team to visit children in hospital to “bring light to their situation”.
Lately there’s been plenty of examples of charity within the community by Super League sides and Rhinos are the latest to partake.
Rhinos tweeted out about their visit to Leeds Children’s Hospital where they accompanied the netball team and star winger Ash Handley spoke about the experience.
The club tweet cited the act as “Spreading Christmas Cheer”.
“To bring a bit of light to their situation it means a lot, it really touches home and is quite tough to do it,” Handley explained.
“I commend the nurses and the parents who are going through it every day so for us to come here and give a bit of positivity and give them presents it means the world.”

The visit came after Leeds Rhinos Foundation helped to raise £1,400 as a result of donated kits from the players and with those funds presents for the children were purchased.
Handley continued: “It’s been good to be able to visit the hospital again as it means so much to the children and their families for us to come here. It’s a small time in our day to hopefully cheer some children up is a small thing we can do.”
Lisa Beaumont, Therapeutic and Specialised Play Manager at Leeds Children’s Hospital, said: “It’s really wonderful to have the Rhinos team back here at Leeds Children’s Hospital, they have always been a wonderful support to our children and families and they are so lovely with them all at this difficult time and it just gives them something nice to focus on. They have brought along some nice gifts and will be giving out autographs and it’s just great to have them back!”
