Leeds Rhinos head coach Richard Agar reveals key man might need surgery

Leeds Rhinos will take on Wigan Warriors tomorrow night, but they will have to do without a number of their stars.

Richard Agar confirmed in his pre-match press conference that Richie Myler, David Fusitu’a and Rhyse Martin will not take part at the DW Stadium.

Whilst Martin has returned home on compassionate leave, Fusitu’a will miss out due to concussion protocols.

Myler, on the other hand, is currently in London to see a specialist following the leg injury he sustained in last week’s defeat to Warrington Wolves, Agar confirmed.

“Richie is down in London to see the specialist and it’s likely he will have surgery so we’re waiting for the length of time on that,” Agar said.

“We don’t know until he’s had the surgery at this moment, but he will definitely miss this weekend and probably a number of weeks.”

Agar does, however, have a perfectly good replacement waiting in the wings.

“It’s always a blow to lose any player through injury when they are influential, but it’s offset by the fact that Jack Walker was great last week and Jack has a terrific career in front of him.

“Blake (Austin) is back from suspension so we are still pretty healthy.”
