Leeds Rhinos head coach Richard Agar addresses speculation on his future

Leeds Rhinos head coach Richard Agar has addressed speculation surrounding his future.

Earlier in 2021, Leeds owner Gary Hetherington revealed that Agar would be in charge of the team heading into the 2022 Super League season.

However, that hasn’t stopped rumours linking the former Hull FC and Wakefield Trinity head coach with a move away from Headingley.

Agar was determined to put the record straight.

“My situation has been the same as it’s been for a long time,” Agar said.

“Any little rumours that occur on my position always seem to pop up, but it hasn’t changed for a while.

“Gary put out there last year that I would be coaching the team this year and that’s at is stands.”

Agar revealed that he was ‘surprised’ that he keeps getting linked with a move away.

“I’m on a rolling deal and it’s not something that’s worth any speculation, so I’ve been quite surprised by a bit of speculation considering that it’s already been confirmed that I would be running around again this year.

“I’m in a comfortable position where if the coaching staff and players want me to carry on then I will but if they don’t then I won’t carry on.”
