Leeds Rhinos’ Harry Newman believes there’s no “better stadium in the league” than Headingley

Leeds Rhinos have given Harry Newman the chance he craved to play again in 2022.

That’s because his fellow centres Liam Sutcliffe and Zak Hardaker scored 20 points between them last night to defeat Catalans as the Rhinos progressed to the semi-finals for the second year in a row.

Newman didn’t play in the game and hasn’t featured since he suffered a third hamstring injury of 2022 against Hull KR, but was named in the 21-man squad.

Leeds will be hoping he’s available for the semi-final against Wigan on Friday as this would be an incredible boost for the Rhinos against one of their biggest rivals.

This is because Newman is one of the best players in Super League as we saw the last time Leeds played Wigan as he came up with a performance that tormented Wigan’s dangerous duo Jai Field and Bevan French.

This was one of the many performances Jon Wells and Newman himself dissected on the latest and brilliant edition of Sky Sports’ new show Super League In The Detail in which Newman expressed why he thought Leeds’ home ground of Headingley is the best in the league.

“I don’t think there’s a better stadium in the league you can play at,” Newman said of Headingley, “It’s always packed. A stat came out early this week that we’re the only team that’s had over 10,00 fans in every home game which is great for the club and the Super League.”

Unfortunately for Newman and Leeds, their semi-final is away at the DW Stadium. Had it been at Headingley, that would have surely given them a massive boost for the game.
