Leeds Rhinos have announced that Head Coach Brad Arthur has agreed an initial one-year contract to keep him at Headingley for the 2025 Super League season.
Arthur joined the Rhinos shortly after being relieved of his duties as Parramatta Eels head coach after a decade in the role.
Now at Leeds, he has seemed to make a positive impact since replacing Rohan Smith earlier this year, with the side still holding out some hope that they could make their way into the playoff spots.
On his decision, Arthur commented: “I said I would only stay if I felt I could make a difference. It is a big decision to move to the other side of the world, especially for my family. I feel an initial one year deal works well for all parties but I am sure we will continue to talk over the next twelve months and make the right decision for all of us about the future beyond that.”
Sporting Director Ian Blease added, “In a short period, he has already made a big impact on our playing and coaching group and that will only continue over the coming months.
“We are pleased that Brad is here for 2025 and I am sure, as he has already proven, we will continue to plan for the future beyond that when the time is right. ”
Leeds Rhinos fans react to latest Brad Arthur news
Many were pleased with the news that they had more certainty over next season – and the upcoming pre-season.
Andrew Turnbull: “Fantastic. Even if we just have him for 2025 (and fingers crossed 2026, maybe) then this is well worth it. Get us back to the top and then hand it over to someone lined up to take over. And then Brad can head back to the NRL. Win win for all hopefully.”
Matt Bullock: “Great news . Let’s hope both parties want to build towards a longer stay. MOT”
James N: “Thank you Brad!! Can clearly see the improvements under yourself. Has given me hope that next season could be a lot better than recent dross we’ve had to endure.”
However, there was some scepticism from a few fans.
Paul Moran: “Good luck to him but it sums up the poor management of the club over the last few years. When has a team built success on a coach being given a short term contract?
“If a coach appears uncommitted to a club or vice versa that often sends out the wrong message to players.”
‘SHS’: “It’s a very Leeds thing to do, it seems at the moment, to not have squads able to compete.”

The hierarchy seem to have gone for a soft touch easy answer. Good luck to BA and the coaching staff for next season .
How fo we look beyond that if Brad decides to go at the end of 2025.
Back to the drawing board and more poor decision making at the top.
Give the fans some hope, please!
