Leeds Rhinos confirm six player exits including three internationals

Leeds Rhinos play in Super League at Headingley.

Leeds Rhinos have announced that six players will leave Headingley Stadium when the 2024 Super League season comes to an end.

The Rhinos have a host of players approaching the end of their deals with the club and the futures of Rhyse Martin and James Donaldson have already been confirmed.

Martin will be leaving Leeds to take up a two-year deal with Hull KR for 2025, while Donaldson will be joining Championship outfit Bradford Bulls. However, Leeds have now confirmed that David Fusitu’a will be released without the offer of a new deal.

The Tonga international has been with Leeds since the 2022 Super League campaign and while he has had his injury issues, he has managed to score 17 tries in 40 appearances.

Wales international Luis Roberts, Corey Johnson and Kieran Hudson will also be leaving the club, it has been confirmed. The trio will all be looking for other opportunities in the game after failing to convince the Rhinos that they are worth keeping around for next season.

“Sadly part of the professional game is that players do move on from clubs to seek new opportunities elsewhere,” Leeds’ sporting director Ian Blease said, per the club statement. “All six players will leave AMT Headingley with our very best wishes and, on behalf of everyone at the club, I would like to thank them for their efforts for the club, not just on matchdays but the unseen hard work that goes on behind the scenes as players battle hard to get back from injuries to support their team mates.

“We have three games left in the regular season and I know, regardless of where their future lies at the end of the year, all six players will be giving their all each day to help the whole squad prepare for those games and achieve their potential this season. I am sure the Leeds fans can show their appreciation on Friday night when we play Hull FC, especially to the four lads who have been here for a number of years.”
