Leeds Rhinos’ Brad Dwyer nearing Super League move

Brad Dwyer will not be a Leeds Rhinos player any longer, with his next destination set to be confirmed soon.

Leeds head coach Rohan Smith confirmed that no contract offer had been tabled for the hooker with Dwyer set for a potential move to a Super League rival.

St Helens had thought to have been interested in the wily hooker earlier in the season, but Kristian Woolf is said to be waiting on James Roby committing himself to another deal at the Totally Wicked Stadium, whilst Salford Red Devils have been linked with a move.

However,  he will no longer be a Leeds player.

“We haven’t made an offer to Brad,” Smith previously confirmed. “I’m not sure what he’s doing either, but he’s free to do what he wants to do because his contract is expiring.”

Dwyer, however, is set to play a key role for Leeds from now until the end of the season with captain Kruise Leeming set for a six to 12 week spell on the sideline.

The hooker has also been linked with a move to Hull FC according to Rugby League In The Know.

The Twitter page broke the news about Leigh Centurions signing Blake Ferguson and Lachlan Lam, whilst other news items about Jake Connor returning early to play for Hull FC have also proven to be right.

For Dwyer, however, it remains to be seen where his future lies beyond 2022 despite him enjoying such a good season with Leeds.

The most obvious choice at present appears Salford – Andy Ackers is currently enjoying his time at the AJ Bell Stadium whilst Chris Atkin has been dangerous off the bench for Paul Rowley’s men.

However, having someone like Brad Dwyer in the side would increase Salford’s potency in attack – particularly against tiring defences.

That being said, Hull does look like an attractive proposition – Danny Houghton and Jordan Johnstone are both off contract with Dwyer potentially able to become number one at the MKM Stadium.
