Leeds Rhinos boss Rohan Smith reveals heartbreaking news on Aidan Sezer

Leeds Rhinos head coach Rohan Smith has revealed heartbreaking news on halfback Aidan Sezer.

There was a cloud over whether or not the Australian could feature for Leeds in the Grand Final against St Helens next weekend following concussion protocols after being hit high by Wigan’s John Bateman.

That occurred during the second-half of Leeds’ big win over Wigan in the semi-finals, but now Smith has revealed the awful news.

“I had a conversation with the doctor yesterday who has been in conversation with the Super League chief medical officer. Aidan won’t be available this week,” Smith said.

“I believe it’s the category one symptoms which are the determining factor about being able to play during the game or the following week.

“He is shattered, but the good news is he felt great going into the dressing rooms after the knock.

“He got through the post-game stuff without feeling bad. He feels clear minded and healthy but he is clearly disappointed to be missing out.”

It remains to be seen who Smith will replace Sezer with, but Smith was keen to stress it is part of the game.

“It’s part of the game unfortunately and people are going to wear consequences of an accident.

“Those two guys played with each other at Canberra, but it’s tough and disappointing at times.”
