Leeds Rhinos boss gives Brodie Croft update after resounding Salford win

Leeds Rhinos boss Brad Arthur

Leeds Rhinos boss Brad Arthur gave fans an update about star halfback Brodie Croft following their 32-6 win over Salford Red Devils.

Croft was stretched off following a Joe Shorrocks tackle, which the Salford player was sin-binned for.

Play stopped for ten minutes whilst Croft was treated by the Leeds medical team and was stretchered off as a precaution.

Head coach Arthur shared an update with Sky Sports following the game.

He said: “Crofty was out sitting on the sidelines in the second half, he’s all good now.

“He’ll have a week off and get a good rest but hopefully, he’s alright from there.

“All the signs at the moment are good, he’s come around.”

Reflecting on the game, the Leeds Rhinos boss was much happier with their performance today compared to last week.

When discussing the similarities, he said: “I don’t think we were bad last week, the other team (Wakefield) just played better than us and we lacked a little bit of composure in chasing the scoreboard.

“I think the scoreboard got to us last week. This week, they scored first and we just backed all that hard work that we’ve done in the pre-season, just playing the game for 80 minutes.

“I feel like we played the game for 80 minutes last week and we finished stronger but we just did some dumb things last week and tried to tick the scoreboard over too quickly without earning the right.”

Despite Salford scoring first in the second minute, the Rhinos were able to keep them scoreless for the next 78 minutes, which once again impressed Arthur.

He added: “Considering the changes we had, (Morgan) Gannon was on the left half, then he went to the right half and with Cam Smith going off so for a while there, we were playing with only one half.

“Cameron’s pretty important in the middle third of the field just with his interchanging passes.

“We always had to adapt on the run and just play simple and get the job done and that’s what they did.

Arthuir also commented on Jake Connor’s performance but still wants to see more from the fullback.

He finished: “He’s still not the finished product for me, there’s still plenty there that I need him but today is another good step in the right direction for him.”

Leeds face Castleford Tigers at home next Sunday, whilst Salford travel to Hull KR on Thursday night.
