Leeds Rhinos 38-6 Hull FC: Player ratings and major talking points

Tom Briscoe of Leeds Rhinos goes over for a try

Tom Briscoe celebrated his testimonial in style with a try and even a few goals as Leeds’ attack clicked against Hull FC as the Rhinos racked up the points this afternoon.

1. Welcome to England David Fusitu’a

Today, on the day Leeds celebrated the man who’s worn number 2 at Headingley for seven seasons, they welcomed their new number 2 David Fusitu’a who was outstanding. The big winger made plenty of yards and dealt with some dangerous crossfield kicks impeccably. He and the rest of Leeds’ outside backs were outstanding especially out of yardage with Harry Newman coming up with a mesmeric assist before leaving the field early. Fusitu’a also showed what he could do defensively with a seismic hit on young Davy Litten. Sadly, Litten was stretchered off and we all wish him well.

2. Gale glimpses

At his old stomping ground, Luke Gale was shown a yellow card but before that he’d shown glimpses of what he can bring to the Black and Whites in 2022. He always challenged Leeds’ line with the ball in hand and kicked well even nailing a 40/20. He could be the key for Hull this season.

3. Leeds’ attack clicks

Granted the majority of Leeds’ points came against either 12 men or some of Hull’s youngsters, but Leeds’ attack was quite superb on both sides of the pitch. Their entire spine got a try and Leeds proved they could score from anywhere on the field. If Leeds can keep this up it could make them serious contenders.
