Leeds Rhinos 18-19 Hull KR: Highlights, talking points and player ratings

Leeds Rhinos have suffered heart break tonight as their play-off hopes were struck a massive blow with a golden point defeat.

Highlights

Hull KR strike first
Leeds started the game the better with a quick ruck speed but Hull KR showed what they could do when they rolled Leeds down field with a seven tackle set before Brad Schneider hit a great late on the back of a turn up play to crash over on debut.

Leeds hit back
Shortly after Leeds hit back with a try of their own as Jarrod O’Connor scored a quintessential hooker’s try burrowing over after a quick ruck.

Schneider running the show
Brad Schneider was impressing on his Super League debut and his grubber kick was grounded by Tom Opacic just before the dead ball line.

Hull KR pull further ahead
A lovely worked move down the Rovers right saw them create just enough space for Louis Senior to storm down the wing and dive in at the corner.

Leeds notch a vital try
Trailing by 10 as the half drew to a close, Leeds needed a response and it came as Nene MacDonald carved through the Robins’ defence before finding Corey Johnson in support to score. It came shortly after MacDonald had come up with a vital try saving tackle.

Leeds draw level
After building plenty of pressure on the Hull KR line, Leeds finally drew level when a delicate grubber kick was grounded by Ash Handley to make it 18-all.

Debut delight
On debut in golden point Brad Schneider stepped up to win the game with a drop goal after two errors from the Rhinos.

Talking Points

Leeds throw it away
Leeds only have themselves to blame. The Rhinos had a number of chances to nail the drop goal before the end of normal time but never had a shot at the drop goal and then in golden point they had two tackles and knocked on twice. Poor game management from the Rhinos.

Schneider sensational
Brad Schneider showed that he is a top tier halfback when it comes to Super League. A try, an assist, the match winning drop goal and so much more. He kicked well throughout.

Play-off picture
This could be a truly damning blow to the Rhinos’ play-off hopes as they find themselves behind both Hull KR and Salford.
