With Luke Gale being stood down as Leeds skipper, Richard Agar has had to move swiftly to appoint his next captain.
And, there is perhaps little surprise that that man will be Australian Matt Prior.
Agar has waxed lyrical about the veteran since his arrival at the club ahead of the 2020 season and, with the 34-year-old having recently signed a new two-year deal that will see him stay at Headingley past his 36th birthday, theLeeds boss revealed that Prior will take on the captain’s armband.
“Matt has captained the side before in Luke’s absence, and we’ll leave that with him,” Agar said.
“It’s a case of business as usual and I know it won’t impact Luke’s leadership as a guy who touches the ball often and is very vocal.”
Leeds take on Hull FC tomorrow night in a bid to reach the Super League play-offs.
