Leeds issue Covid testing update following earlier positive test

Leeds Rhinos have issued an update on the availability of players after they confirmed earlier this week that one player had tested positive for Covid-19, while another was awaiting results after showing symptoms.

The player who tested positive has returned a second positive test and so will continue to self-isolate.

The first positive test also led to two other players being stood down following track and trace analysis, with another player now also being identified and self-isolating, meaning the Rhinos will be without a total of four players.

The player who showed symptoms was tested on Wednesday and returned a negative result, meaning he is free to return to training.

The full Leeds playing and backroom staff returned to training on Thursday ahead of their Challenge Cup quarter final clash with Hull KR on Friday.

In a statement, the club said: “All four players will be receiving full welfare and medical support from the club during their isolation period.”
