Leeds 6-19 Wigan: Player ratings and three major talking points

Wigan ran out 19-6 winners against Leeds, but just how did the players rate and what were the three major talking points?

1. Kyle Eastmond needs more time

The former St Helens utility man made his Leeds debut and, despite having a quiet first-half, became more active and potent in the second. Eastmond had some nice touches and looked to be dangerous with the ball as well as the boot, suggesting that he can be a key figure for the Rhinos in 2021.

2. Jack Broadbent is thriving

Jack Broadbent was said to have had a superb pre-season by Leeds boss Richard Agar, suggesting that the youngster would play some kind of role for the Rhinos in 2021. However, the 20-year-old has taken everyone by surprise with just how well he has adapted to Super League life. Playing in the centres as well as fullback, Broadbent has looked firmly at home in a top-flight side.

3. Sam Powell continues to impress

He’s quickly becoming Wigan’s most important player, but Sam Powell seems to improve with every passing game. Offering a quick ruck speed as well as tremendous passing and kicking game, the number nine could well push himself into Shaun Wane’s England thinking later on in the year if he continues in this fashion.
