Leeds 48-18 Leigh: Player ratings and major talking points

Leeds claimed a third consecutive win with a 48-18 thrashing of Leigh tonight. The Rhinos have scored a whopping 27 tries in those three fixtures. They now seem headed in the right direction despite fielding their 28th player of the season tonight showing the problems they’ve faced in 2021.

Major Talking Points:

1. Rhinos youngsters shine

Few youngsters cross for four tries in a season and even fewer score four in one game. Jack Broadbent did so tonight as he continues his sublime form on the wing. He’s scored seven tries in three games now but he wasn’t the only impressive youngster in the Rhinos’ win. Tom Holroyd was outstanding and scored a brilliant try whilst Morgan Gannon shone as well in his first start helping create Kruise Leeming’s score.

2. James Bell impressive again despite scoreline

James Bell is perhaps Leigh’s best player at the moment. Few loose forwards can move the ball as well as he can. He had Leeds on the back foot early on. If Leigh do suffer relegation, someone should snap him up.

3. Lui ready to finish Leeds career on a high

It would have been easy to expect Rob Lui to struggle on his return from injury. With no Luke Gale alongside him and no Richie Myler at fullback there was a lot of pressure on the stand-off but he was more than fine. In fact, he was quietly impressive in the way he organised his team. He’s ready to finish his time at Leeds on a high.
