Leeds 38-16 Salford: Player ratings and major talking points

Leeds Rhinos got back to winning way with a comprehensive showing against Salford. The Rhinos were again red hot in the first half but had to scrap for supremacy in the second owing to a gutsy and pragmatic Salford effort.

Major Talking Points:

1. Versatile Rhinos

Once again the Rhinos fielded a strange looking team with the likes of Luke Gale absent. However, it offered others the opportunity to star in different roles. Luke Briscoe played both at loose-forward and on the wing having started on the bench whilst the likes of Kruise Leeming moved position throughout the game. It ensured Leeds stayed on top and gave the Rhinos great energy across the park.

2. Salford’s ill-discipline costs them again

The Rhinos have struggled in second halves recently and the way the second period started today Salford had a real chance of getting back into the game but a pair of yellow cards killed their momentum. This has happened too many times this season and has severely damaged their play-off push.

3. Sport is nothing without fans

In the last few months we’ve had fans back but for the first time since March 2020 Headingley was packed creating an electric atmosphere which simply added to the game. Credit the Salford fans too. They remained vocal and supportive throughout. It was a special night.
