Leeds 25-24 Hull FC: Player ratings and major talking points

Leeds edged a superb and enthralling do or die encounter against Hull FC to bring the curtain down on day one of the Magic Weekend. It leaves Leeds in command of their destiny and Hull hoping for a miracle.

Major Talking Points:

1. Stars of the future do a job in the present

I’ve spoken a lot about the quality of Leeds’ youngsters and the big futures ahead of them. But today they were the stars of the show. Harry Newman was my Man of the Match, Jack Broadbent  came up with a massive try and Morgan Gannon got through loads of work.

2. Game over for Hull FC?

A third consecutive defeat for Hull makes it incredibly hard for the Black and Whites to make the top six. They produced a valiant effort but were outplayed in the last 20 as fatigue got to them. Will their season be like tonight? Will they run out of steam?

3. The best day of magic ever

A superb contest between Cas and Salford, one of Super League’s greatest ever comebacks and an enthralling battle between two of the play-off hopefuls which had so many twists and turns I nearly lost my glasses in the mayhem. It was everything good about rugby league wrapped up in a bow. Wow.
