Lee Radford names Castleford Tigers team for Warrington Wolves clash as two players surprisingly left out

Lee Radford has named his team for today’s clash with Warrington Wolves and former Cas boss Daryl Powell.

Jake Mamo, Adam Milner, Gareth O’Brien and Brad Martin have been left out of the 17 in an interesting move from Radford.

The absence of O’Brien is hardly a surprise but the absence of Mamo and Milner certainly is. Milner would have solved Castleford’s halfback problem with him starting at nine and returning skipper Paul McShane capable of taking over in the halves.

But Milner’s surprise absence means McShane starts at nine with Greg Eden again forced into playing at stand-off.

Jake Mamo’s absence means Cheyse Blair starts at centre meanwhile. The exact reasons behind their absences after both were included in the 21-man squad is unclear.

It means Mamo misses out on a battle against his former club.

On the bench Alex Sutcliffe makes his long awaited return to the 17 and is alongside winger Jason Qareqare, Suaia Matagi and Daniel Smith with no player capable of covering the number nine spot present there or anywhere else in the squad.

It makes Castleford’s task a little more difficult as it’ll mean Warrington could target Paul McShane and look to tire him out.

Playing someone like George Lawler out of position there at spells could be a possibility but the last thing Castleford will want to do in the heat is use one of their starting props as a back up hooker as well.

It will also be interesting to see how Jason Qareqare is used off the bench. His speed could be a useful asset in the heat.
