Lee Radford identifies why Castleford Tigers were able to beat St Helens

Lee Radford’s Castleford Tigers just about got over the line against a very youthful St Helens side tonight, 30-10.

St Helens threatened a comeback when they got back to 18-10, but the Tigers were professional enough to get the two points.

And, for Radford, it was the experience that got his side through in the end.

“I think we did just enough fortunately,” Radford said on Sky Sports.

“But I’ve got to give credit to their boys, the enthusiasm they came with, their last score made me a little bit twitchy.

“I was worried about their fresh legs, every player of ours was holding a limb in the last 20 minutes and to play three games in eight days is a task and hopefully we’ve come through it ok.

“I thought defensively we were really good, what was really evident was some of the fatigue errors like at the play the ball and dropped balls but I’m pleased we got through it.

“We need some improvement in there obviously, but mentally we attacked it with the right attitude.”

Castleford now travel to Catalans next week, aiming to make it five league wins in a row.
