Lee Radford confirms Castleford Tigers are set to announce “four or five” young signings

Despite the fact Castleford came up short yesterday in their do or die clash with Leeds, there were plenty of positives for Cas to take out of the game in which their squad was well and truly stretched to its limit with three young men on the bench.

One of those youngsters really shone in the shape of Cain Robb who caused Leeds plenty of problems with pace out of dummyhalf.

After the game his coach Lee Radford had nothing but praise for the young man: “I thought Cain Robb was awesome today. What he did was exactly what we want from our defensive structures.”

He also revealed that the club will be announcing four or five new young signings as he looks to freshen his squad up and give them some real potential moving forward: “I’ve made no secret of trying to freshen our squad up with younger faces. We’ve extended Cain, Sam Hall and Brad Martin and there’s going to be four or five blokes coming into the group that will be announced shortly that are in that age bracket.

“It’s then our job to bring them through but you’ve got to have the minerals, that get up and go and I thought Cain had that today.”

It remains to be seen who these men will be but it will continue to freshen up his squad which he has wonderfully developed since taking the reigns nearly a year ago.

Nonetheless, these young men alongside the likes of Cain Robb ensure a bright future for the Tigers.
