Lee Briers reveals why he left Warrington to join Wigan

The shock news that Lee Briers would be joining the Wigan Warriors as assistant coach to Matt Peet caught a number of people off guard.

A Warrington Wolves legend, Briers had spent 25 years at the club and, after reportedly rejecting a deal to join the Leigh Centurions, the halfback made the move to rivals Wigan.

“I’m really excited for the challenge – it’s what dreams are made of. Wigan is a massive Rugby League Club in anybody’s eyes so to be asked to come and coach here is special,” Briers said.

“I’m really looking forward to working alongside the staff here. We’re all focused on one thing and that’s making Wigan attractive winners again. We’re on the same wavelength, we’re all aligned and we’re looking forward to the job.”

Briers will work alongside Sean O’Loughlin as assistant coaches, whilst Shaun Wane also finds a new role as Leadership and Management Director.
