Lee Briers dismisses reports he is heading for this Super League club

Lee Briers will not be joining Leigh Centurions as their new head coach from 2022.

That’s according to the former Warrington halfback himself, after the current Wolves assistant addressed a question given to him on social media site, Twitter.

Briers had responded to a post by Leigh owner Derek Beaumont after the chairman had taken part in a Leigh to Newcastle charity bike ahead of the Magic Weekend back at the start of September.

The ex-Super League playmaker used a clapping emoji to reply to Beaumont’s success, with a Leigh fan taking the opportunity to ask Briers whether he would be heading to the Leigh Sports Village in 2022.

“Great club mate and got a great owner in @derek_beaumont but no I’m not the new head coach,” Briers tweeted.

It follows a horrible season for the Centurions with just two wins all year, as their relegation after merely one season back in the top flight was confirmed weeks ago.
