
This week’s League 1 round-up had something for everyone: big scorelines and a hard-fought draw for the traditionalists.
It was North Wales’ week to sit out a game as the remaining 10 sides faced off in round two.
Here’s a League 1 round-up from round 2 of the 2025 season.
League 1 round-up results
Newcastle Thunder 6-48 Swinton Lions
Swinton’s 48-6 win over Newcastle has them sitting second in the league.
The Lions ran in nine tries, including a hat-trick from Gav Rodden and a brace from Ellis Anderson.
Alex Donaghy scored the sole try for the home side but it wasn’t enough as the Lions put in a solid performance to gain the two points.
Whitehaven RLFC 20-4 Keighley Cougars
Whitehaven grabbed their first win of the 2025 season over Keighley Cougars.
Tries from Jack Kellett and Jay Weatherill gave the home side a 10-0 lead before Junior Sa’u added the sole try for Keighley.
Mason Lewthwaite added another Whitehaven try for a 20-4 victory for the hosts.
Goole Vikings 16-22 Dewsbury Rams
A Thomas Minns brace wasn’t enough for the home side as Goole lost 16-22 to Dewsbury.
The away side were 10-0 up after 13 minutes with tries from Tommy Brierley and Callum Jordan.
Tyler Craig grabbed one back for the hosts to pull it back to 6-10 at half-time.
Dewsbury’s Liam Copland grabbed a brace for the visitors before Goole’s Minns grabbed his two tries and the Rams held on for a 22-16 victory.
Midlands Hurricanes 16-16 Workington Town
The first draw of the 2025 League 1 season was held between Midlands and Workington.
Midlands drew first blood with a Matty Hanley try before Workington responded through a Guy Graham score.
The Hurricanes grabbed another before half-time with Ellis Hobson’s effort for a 10-6 lead.
Midlands got off to the better second-half start with Sully Medforth getting their third of the afternoon before two tries in the last 15 minutes gave Workington a share of the points.
Rochdale Hornets 68-0 Cornwall RLFC
It was top versus bottom in this League 1 fixture and Rochdale showed their class.
Rochdale ran in 13 tries for another afternoon to forget for Cornwall.
There were three hat-tricks on offer for the Hornets, with Lameck Juma, Luke Forber and Dan Nixon all contributing to the big scoreline.
