The Rugby League World Cup is just around the corner.

With an increase in anticipation ever since the 2021 competition was postponed, national head coaches have been slowly plotting their squads for the tournament that will take place in a month’s time.

For England head coach Shaun Wane, it’s been a difficult period since taking over the role, missing a number of international games whilst trying to pull off camps in the previous Covid-19 era.

But, debates have been raging over who should be included in the England squad for the World Cup and leading rugby league agent, Craig Harrison of Show Me The Money UK, has called for one surprise Leeds Rhinos star to be given a shot.

“This kid has been a star from the 14s, 16s and 18s, he has been unbelievable. Sutty (Liam Sutcliffe) was told to be the next Stevie Ward who was set to be the next Kevin Sinfield,” Harrison said on The Full Eighty Minutes podcast.

“He was under pressure to be the next Danny McGuire. I watched Liam play against Hull KR at 17, he didn’t play a lot of academy games because he was that good, and he set about eight tries up when he was 6 foot 1.

“He was the elite player, he toured Australia a year younger than everyone.

“Do I think Liam has become that world star? Probably not but I think he has become an unbelievable player and he is an unbelievable person.

“Could Sutty be an outside choice for the centre position for England? The chest is bare for centres for England; Mark Percival is injured, Harry Newman is injured and would you play John Bateman at centre before Sutty?

“But what a signing for hull, he will be a revelation. Outside Jake Trueman you will see some football and you won’t hear anyone give a bad name against Sutty.”
