Last-gasp Toulouse keep Qualifiers hopes alive

A try in the last minute from Kuni Minga has kept alive Toulouse’s hopes of finishing in the Championship’s top four after a nail-biting 32-26 win against Featherstone.

Knowing they had to win, the game was deadlocked at 26-26 with just second remaining when the winger pounced to send the home fans into raptures.

Things could have been very different had Anthony Thackeray kicked a 15-metre drop-goal for Rovers just before Minga scored the match-winner.

The result means Halifax must get at least a point against table-toppers Hull KR tomorrow with the French outfit currently sitting above them on points difference.

Toulouse edged the first-half with tries from Minga, Rhys Curran, Bastien Ader and Mark Kheirallah putting them 20-18 ahead, with Featherstone scores coming from Thackeray, Kyle Briggs and Scott Turner.

Jason Walton’s try put John Duffy’s side ahead early in the second half but Kheirallah went over for his second to edge the French outfit back in front.

Ian Hardman kicked a penalty goal to make it 26-26 going into the final stage, but Minga broke down the left edge to win the game for Toulouse with just seconds remaining.
