Lam slams “disgraceful” decision

Wigan Warriors Head Coach Adrian Lam called the decision to award Jake Mamo’s try as “disgraceful”.

Mamo scored in the 62nd minute of Warrington Wolves’ 21-8 win over the Warriors. He picked up the ball after Liam Marshall dropped it after being knocked out by a stray knee from Josh Charnley.

Referee Robert Hicks awarded the try without even consulting video referee Chris Kendall.

Lam said: “In my opinion, the player who is kicked in the head, whether or not it was an accident,  but that defeats the purpose. It should have been a penalty.

“I just don’t know why the referee didn’t go to the video to adjudicate, when it was clear he was knocked out from some sort of action.

“Where we are with the game, with welfare, head injuries, HIA’s, I thought it was disgraceful he didn’t pull that up. It was clear he was knocked out.”
