Lam confirms Wigan absentees

Wigan Warriors Head Coach Adrian Lam has confirmed the two players that will definitely miss Sunday’s match against Huddersfield Giants.

Willie Isa picked up a two-match ban for Dangerous Contact during their defeat against St Helens on Sunday. Forward Ethan Havard will also sit out as his one-match ban after the Warrington game takes effect.

Forward Oliver Partington is also doubtful after failing his HIA on Sunday. Lam said he would not pressure on him to play this week.

He said: “Willie Isa is out with a two-week ban, Ethan Havard will take up his one-match suspension from the Warrington game this week, so he won’t be included.

“Oliver Partington also has to pass his concussion from the weekend. There is a seven day protocol. If there any hiccough’s then as a coach, I am strong on not pushing the fact he needs to play. His welfare and health is most important to us- so he is a serious doubt.

“But we do get one back in T0ny Clubb.”

Clubb will return to the field after sitting out the last eight matches for using “unacceptable/abusive language based on national or ethnic origin” to Hull FC forward Andre Savelio.

Lam said he would be welcomed back into the squad with “open arms” and that his experience will help the side as they look to end their five-game losing run.
