Wigan Warriors Head Coach Adrian Lam has confirmed the club are in talks with Sean O’Loughlin over a coaching role at the club.

The club announced last week that O’Loughlin would be retiring at the end of the season, after 19 years with his hometown club.

Lam confirmed the club are in talks to keep him on board as a coach, with the capacity to be confirmed.

He said: “What Sean O’Loughlin has given to the club has been incredible, if he had have hone one more year, he would have got a double testimonial.

“He has achieved everything you can do in the game, won trophies played in big games.

“Not only is he a great player, but he is a great person as well. He is a Wigan player and a Wigan lad- a one club man through and through.

“The sad part is he wont be able to play in front of the fans. He will come on board with the coaching staff next year. It was imperative we kept him on board.

“Where he will go is yet to be decided. He could well carry on with the juniors, which he has been doing already or come up to the first team.

“As soon as we get fans back, we will definitely parade him around.”
