Lam confirms Field blow

Wigan Warriors Head Coach Adrian Lam has confirmed Jai Field will miss the next six weeks after tearing his hamstring.

Field was making his debut for the Warriors on the wing during their 20-18 win over Leigh Centurions. He stretched going out for an intercept and picked up the injury.

That leaves Wigan with another player who can play on the wing out injured. Liam Marshall remains a long-term absentee with a knee injury, while Dom Manfredi is out with a thumb injury.

He said: “He has torn his hamstring, he will be out for up to six weeks. Could even be more depending on the severity of the tear.

“I asked him at the start of the week if he could play out of position on the wing. He accepted that to make his debut and I am very thankful for that.

“We didn’t see the best of him, but it was an opportunity for him to show his speed early on. It was uncoordinated, from the way the ball bounced, to the way he picked up. Unfortunately, that caused the hamstring to tear.”
