Lachlan Lam’s Leigh Leopards recruitment verdict with one to watch named

Leigh Leopards Lachlan Lam

Leigh Leopards have the right mix of experience of youth following a busy recruitment period. That’s the belief of Lachlan Lam, who believes Leigh’s new signings fit perfectly into how the club want to play heading into the 2025 Super League campaign.

Adrian Lam’s side have made 10 new signings over the off-season with the likes of David Armstrong, Tesi Niu, Ethan O’Neill, Isaac Liu and Alec Tuitavake tipped to make a big impact. Some of those have big boots to fill following a series of high profile departures, but they have been brought in to help take Leigh to the next level.

All 10 of those recruits could get a run out in leopard print this afternoon as the club make the trip to the Halliwell Jones Stadium to face Warrington Wolves in their first and only friendly of pre-season. And, with the competitive match action now just around the corner, the head coach will be keen to see an encouraging performance as the club look to improve on last season’s fifth placed finish.

Lam has been working with the Leigh Leopards new boys on the training pitch all winter, though, and he certainly likes what he sees.

“We’ve been testing out our signings – David Armstrong, Tesi Niu and Isaac Liu,” Lam told the official Super League website.

“There’s a lot of experience but also youth and speed added to our team this year – and that’s something that’s going to benefit us and the way we like to play. If you haven’t seen Davy play, he is very fast!”

He added: “For me personally, I just want to start a little bit better. I’ve learnt a few things that I want to try and show in the games.

“Collectively, we finished one stage higher than the year before, so we’d like to go one more this year and reach a Grand Final. That would be our goal. I think the top six will be similar to last year, but we need to be in there.”
