After departing St Helens midway through the season, veteran winger Kyle Feldt has confirmed his retirement, however, he’s made no mention of the club in his post on social media.
Feldt departed midway through the year in order to return down under, ending his spell at St Helens with a record of 33 tries in 29 games. He’d play just 11 times in 2026 before departing, something he spoke about recently on a podcast.
The 34-year-old explained that he felt he was holding back younger players, whilst also confirming issues with then head coach Paul Rowley, and ultimately decided to leave his contract early.
He’d take up playing Australian Rules Football and had suggested in his recent podcast appearance that he may play on, but he’s now made the decision to hang up his boots.
Taking to Instagram, Feldt shared an image montage of himself in North Queensland Cowboys, Queensland Maroons and Australia colours, with his NRL achievements and accolades all listed.
However, there was a marked lack of any St Helens images or achievements and he’d make no mention of his time in Super League in the accompanying message.

Ex-St Helens winger Kyle Feldt retires from rugby league
Captioning his post ‘What a pleasure it’s been’, Feldt attached a statement to his post that thanked the fans and his family during his time in the sport.
It read: “I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about what to say, but I’ll keep it pretty simple. Rugby league has given me more than I could ever have dreamed of.
“As a kid from Townsville, North Queensland, I gre up dreaming of playing NRL. I then got to live out that dream as well as become a premiership winner in 2015 and represent my state and country… those are moments that I’ll carry with me for the rest of my life.
“To become the Cowboys’ all-time leading try scorer and then a life member of the club is something I’m incredibly proud of. But honestly, the records and achievements aren’t what I’ll remember most.
“I’ll remember the boys I played alongside, the battles we cant through, the wins, the losses, the laughs, the beers in the sheds after game and the friendships that will last well beyond rugby league.”
Feldt would go on to thank the fans and more so his family, adding: “And to the fans – thank you. You’ve supported me through every high and low, and it’s been an absolute privilege to represent you.
“But most importantly, to my family – thank you. You’ve made sacrifices that people will never see, and you’ve been here through every injury, disappointment, success, and everything in between. I wouldn’t have had the career I’ve had without you.
“I’m proud of what I’ve achieved, but I’m even prouder of the people I’ve shared it with.
“I’ve given rugby league everything I had. Now it’s time for the next chapter, and most importantly, more time with my family. It’s been one hell of a ride.”
