Kyle Amor thinks this surprise club could be in relegation trouble in 2023

It has been reiterated again and again that this could be the most competitive Super League season in years.

But at the end of it, someone still has to be left struggling at the bottom and facing the prospect of relegation.

The bookies have Wakefield Trinity as the favourites for relegation whilst newly promoted Leigh have never avoided relegation in Super League history.

Speaking on the 5 Live Rugby League podcast, Kyle Amor said he believes that 10 teams can make the play-offs, including Wakefield.

This came as he said that he believes Wakefield’s rivals Castleford are in trouble due to what he described as “an aging squad”:

“We’ve got a 12 team competition and for the first time in a long time I’m looking at player rosters and I’m thinking that there’s genuinely ten teams who can finish in the playoffs. That’s where it becomes difficult.

“For me I think, it might be a bit out there, Castleford are in trouble. I don’t see Leigh in there. I think Castleford might be in there, I see them as an ageing squad. Yes they’ve brought some players in but something tells me they might struggle this year.”

Castleford have been ever present in Super League since they were promoted in 2007.
