The likes of Leeds Rhinos and Hull FC are trying to keep their play-off hopes alive but Warrington Wolves, Hull KR and Salford Red Devils are in much stronger positions when it comes to the play-off race.
Last week, Warrington took a dramatic step forwards in their pursuit of a play-off spot ending an eight game losing run.
Now Kyle Amor has suggested his former team could be a real threat in the race for the Grand Final on the Last Tackle:
“If they win this, that’ll be the talk ‘if we win this we’re almost guaranteed play-offs’. That squad of Warrington’s is a threat, it’s a threat in the play-offs and again, everything’s all about momentum this time of year.
“There’s plenty of teams that have rode away and won Grand Finals. I’ll mention Leeds, they’ve won it for the fifth multiple times. You just have to be in it. You have to be in it, get your best players playing. You’ve got to time it right.
“Your players have got to be in great form. There’s a load of different things that need to fall into place, but none of that can happen obviously if you’re not in the playoffs. I still think Warrington are going to be a huge threat on this season for St Helen’s title; but I think they’ll win against Castleford no issues about that.
“They’ve got a still got a chance, everybody was laughing at them when they fell away after after that first eight or nine rounds, but again they’ve got to be in it for sure.”
He also said that whoever loses between Hull FC and Leeds this week is “gone.”
“It’s almost whoever loses, trap door now isn’t it? You’re gone. Whoever loses this game is gone and I think Hull FC win this game.
“I think obviously the home advantage there and the fact that I just think that Leeds, a lot of players leaving, isn’t there? Blake Austin, Aidan Sezer, Sam Walters, and it screams out that they just want the season over.
“They want the season over, reset, rebuild and go again for 2024.”
