Kruise Leeming’s huge ambitions in the NRL

Kruise Leeming may have only signed a contract at Gold Coast Titans till the end of the 2023 season, but the former Leeds Rhinos hooker has huge ambitions at Gold Coast.

He wants to play week in week out in the best competition in Super League:

“I feel that Super League is a good competition but I think the NRL is the strongest competition, I think nobody is under any illusions there.

“Obviously like you say Saints did bridge that gap a little bit but I think across the board if you took any team out of the NRL, the athletes you’ve got over here, the pace of the game, the magnitude of the media and the stuff around the game is massive over here.

“It’s the main sport that everybody is wanting to play. All the best athletes in England there’s football there that people go play whereas over here it’s rugby league, that’s why the pool is so much bigger and that raises the intensity of each game and the competition for places which makes the competition a better place to play in.

“I want to be playing week in week out, that’s what I’ve come here to do. I’ve not come here to have a look around and see the different facilities or way of living. I’ve come here to play rugby league, that’s my job and that’s what I’ve come here to do.”

He also explained how Justin Holbrook was key to the move:

“I knew of him, we had spoken in passing on the field but I wouldn’t say I knew him as a person but I know his accolades, what he achieved and how highly regarded he is.

“Also how smart he is with his tactics and the certain way he coaches and that’s something as a hooker that really appeals to me, so I can’t wait to work under him.”
