One of the big stories recently has been that of Kruise Leeming.

The England international and 2021 Super League Dream Team hooker has requested to leave Leeds Rhinos after a little over three years at Headingley.

He is widely expected to head to the NRL with St George Illawarra Dragons, Gold Coast Titans and even the unbeaten Brisbane Broncos reportedly interested in the number nine though it has been reported that the Titans are in pole position.

Speaking to the press today, Rohan Smith confirmed that Leeming is officially no longer a Leeds player.

“The paperwork at our end has been done but I am not aware of where he is going to,” Smith said.

When asked if that meant he was no longer a Leeds player, Smith said: “To my knowledge that is correct.”

When last speaking about Leeming, Smith confirmed that Leeming was training separately: “We’ve given him some training options and ideas to do elsewhere.

“I have had some contact. I can only focus on the players who are in the building.”

Smith also confirmed that James Bentley is an option at hooker as he returns from suspension this week: “It definitely is a consideration of mine.”

He also sung the praises of Corey Johnson:

“Corey is right there and will push Jarrod. I feel is really going to emerge in the next weeks and months.”
