Kritsian Woolf hails St Helens against Leeds Rhinos following ‘disruption’ to his side

St Helens were able to run out 42-12 winners against Leeds Rhinos tonight at the Totally Wicked Stadium in what ended up being a very feisty affair.

Saints were by far the better side throughout, but were given a number of scares by their West Yorkshire opponents who belied their lowly position in the Super League table to more than match the reigning champions for a good deal of the game.

However, Kristian Woolf’s men turned the screw in the second-half to inflict a big win over the Rhinos – and Woolf was over the moon with his side’s performance considering the disruption.

“I thought we were really good tonight,” Woolf told Sky Sports pundit Jenna Brooks after the game.

“I thought they came with a real effort and it was a real high quality game of footy.

“We had some disruption there and a completely different left edge to what we started the year with and our right was a little bit different too.”

The Saints boss was also keen to pay tribute to Leeds for making it such a good battle.

“I thought it was a real tussle and I though they were really edgy and scrambled really hard.

“However, I thought we played with great discipline.”

The win extended Saints’ lead at the top of the Super League table to six points if only overnight.
