Kristian Woolf makes huge Jonny Lomax claim

Former St Helens coach Kristian Woolf has worked with some of the best players on the planet in the NRL and as Tonga coach.

But in his view, there are fewer better and even fewer who work as hard as St Helens star Jonny Lomax.

In fact, Woolf said he is “the best prepared player I’ve ever worked with.”

“I had three great years working with Jonny, all those guys at Saints are a great group and he’s certainly at the forefront of that,” Woolf said.

“He’s great to work with. There’s not too many players I’ve worked with that work harder than Jonny, he’s a real credit to himself. I don’t think I have worked with a better prepared player.

“I’d go as far as saying that I’ve never worked with a player who prepares as well as he does and does as much work as he does to keep himself on the field.

“That’s what you see in his performance, it means something to him. Playing for St Helens means something to him and I’m not sure where he’s at with his international career or what Shaun Wane will do with an older or younger team. I do know that if Jonny puts his hand up then he’s going to be a very influential player.”

It will be interesting to see whether Lomax will feature for England against Woolf’s Tonga this winter.
