St Helens head coach Kristian Woolf was happy with how his side got the two points at the Halliwell Jones Stadium last night against Warrington Wolves.
The Saints led 12-4 at half-time and clung on to win 12-10 with some incredible defensive shots and efforts helping them over the line.
For Woolf, too, he felt his side put themselves under too much pressure.
“I thought our effort and energy was great,” Woolf said on Sky Sports.
“I thought we came to play, but we put ourselves under too much pressure with too many errors but as long as they turned up in defence the way they did we could always win.”
Woolf also believed that the clash was one of the toughest his side has faced all year.
“I think it was up there, Warrington came to play – they’ve got some really good dangerous players and they played well.
“I was a bit nervous, they got those half breaks and they’ve got some fast blokes, but I thought we played really tough.”
Saints’ first try came off the back of a scrum won against the head, with Warrington trying to hold the ball in the scrum.
And, for Woolf he was happy to see that controversial issue get punished.
“I really don’t like that rule where you trap that ball in the back of the scrum so I’m quite happy to see it go wrong and I’m happy that we scored from it.
