Kristian Woolf explains decision to take St Helens job

St Helens head coach Kristian Woolf is quickly becoming a major hit at the Super League club.

After guiding Saints to a Grand Final victory in his first season and a Challenge Cup success in his second, Woolf could secure a league and cup double next weekend at Old Trafford.

And, the Tonga national boss has revealed that he always wanted to make the trip to the UK to try his hand at such a prestigious club.

“It’s an opportunity I’ll always¬† be grateful for,” Woolf said.

“W always had the idea that I would like to test myself on the other side of the world with the life experience, the footy, the challenge.

“When a club like ST helens have interest and say they want you to come over – I’m very aware of the history and calibre of the club – I jumped at the opportunity.

“When it came along, it was 100% what I wanted to do – it’s great to be here and get this opportunity and what makes it so special is the group of blokes I get to work with.”
