Hull Kingston Rovers will make their signing of Swinton Lions half-back Chris Atkin effective immediately according to the League Express.
Swinton will lose their star operator for the most important part of the season but it’s fair to say their problems lie off the field due to their well-documented financial situation.
Atkin has been a key member of the Lions squad for a number of years but he will be available to help the Robins in the Qualifiers, where the East Yorkshire side will fight for a place in next season’s Super League.
With a strong running game as well as decent kicking, Atkin should prove to be a shrewd signing by Tim Sheens who originally signed the Lions half-back for the 2018 season.
A statement is expected from the Lions later today.
