Konrad Hurrell reacts to his first game as a St Helens player after win over Super League rivals Catalans Dragons

Konrad Hurrell (23) of St Helens goes over for a try

Last night saw Konrad Hurrell play his first game in his new colours of St Helens after making the switch from Leeds Rhinos.

The Tongan enforcer looked trim, hungry and determined to prove a point – and he did just that.

Hurrell was a threat throughout, taking up some strong carries and putting himself about in defence, setting up James Roby for his score in the first-half and then capping off a wonderful performance with an interception try near the end of the game.

Having moved from Leeds, the centre signed just a one-year deal at the Totally Wicked Stadium – presumably an incentive to go out there and prove he is worth more after a stagnant 2021 season at Headingley.

Well, if his first performance is anything to go by, then he is certainly on his way.

And, the man himself couldn’t hide his pride at making an appearance for the Saints following the game, posting on Instagram alongside an image of his interception try: “First one in the new colours 👊🏽 Thankful for the opportunity to be a part of this team.”

Hurrell was also vocal on Twitter after the game, tweeting: “Very blessed to be apart of this club. First game and hopefully many more to come.”
