Kevin Sinfield defied the odds as a player, and he has defied the odds as a friend as well.

The former Leeds Rhinos skipper has gone above and beyond for former teammate Rob Burrow since he was diagnosed with motor neurone disease in December 2019.

In 2020, he ran seven marathons in seven days, a year ago he ran 101 miles in 24 hours and last week he ran seven ultramarathons in seven days.

Each of these challenges has raised £2 million each for a combined total of £7 million as he raises awareness and money in the fight against MND.

As with every challenge, Sinfield was asked again what comes next in his ambition to fight MND.

When asked this, Sinfield spoke about the marathon next year which will see everyone able to take part and will see Sinfield and Burrow take on a challenge together with Sinfield pushing Burrow the whole way: “Yeah it is, it has been important for me that there was a mass participation event and it was important that we provide a legacy for Rob.

“Come alongside friends for friends, I was just on a run for a mate with a group of mate.

“All being well Rob will be on that start line and I’ll push him round and I think it’ll be great.”

In terms of his next individual challenge he said: “I did say that all good films are in threes and we did call this the trilogy. When I addressed the group before we set off I said that it was probably the last run but I did say Rocky IV is my favourite Rocky,

“At the minute we are all very reflective. On Sunday morning I was thinking about what we do next, I’m not sure another big running challenge is where we go but I do have some of what the next one could look like.”
