Kevin Sinfield’s final ‘7 in 7 challenge’ as start line, plan and finish confirmed

Kevin Sinfield

Rugby League Commercial have confirmed that Kevin Sinfield’s seventh and final ‘7 in 7 Challenge’ will finish at the 2026 Super League Grand Final.

Sinfield outlined his intention to finish his 2026 challenge at Old Trafford on October 3 when speaking to BBC Breakfast on Monday morning, less than 24 hours after completing his latest challenge at Headingley Stadium.

And, RL Commercial have now confirmed that will be the case, with Sinfield due to focus next year’s run in the rugby league heartlands. As such, he will start in Hull and stop off at all 12 English Super League clubs before eventually finishing at Old Trafford on the day of the Grand Final.

It’s a challenge that is sure to get plenty of attention once more, with Sinfield making national headlines over the last week. The former Leeds Rhinos man started his latest challenge in East Anglia before stopping off in Wales, Ireland, South Yorkshire, Cumbria and Scotland.

His final leg of the challenge got underway in North Yorkshire and culminated at Headingley, where he spent so much of his career alongside Rob Burrow, who lost his battle with Motor Neurone Disease last year.

Sinfield’s heroics have seen him raise more than £11 million for MND charities over the last six years, with £1.25m of that coming over the last eight days.

Kevin Sinfield on his final ‘7 in 7’

Speaking on his 2026 challenge, Sinfield said: “The final 7 in 7 Challenge was always going to be a special one for us. The number seven is so important to us because it was the number that Rob wore on his shirt during his incredible Rugby League career. He lit up Old Trafford in that shirt on so many occasions and it is fitting in this final challenge that we should bring the Rugby League community together to celebrate Rob and also show our support for the MND community. As a 7 in 7 team, we have talked about making sure that every member of that community knows they are loved and cared for, especially at the darkest of times.

“We will start a little bit earlier in 2026 in September rather than our usual December slot so we can finish at Old Trafford just as Rob did during his playing career. We want to visit as many Rugby League communities along the way as we can, it feels the right way to finish these challenges. We started out going for a run for a mate with a mate and we can’t wait to bring everyone together next year to finish off on the best possible note.

“I will continue to support the MND community for life but it will be in different ways, I’m not sure what that will be but I am already looking forward to our final 7 in 7 in 2026 and going back to Old Trafford on Grand Final night.”
