Rob Burrow and Kevin Sinfield were an exceptional partnership on the rugby field but what we have seen from the pair in recent years is even more inspiring.
Burrow was diagnosed with motor neurone disease in December 2019. Since then, Rob and his family have campaigned tirelessly to raise awareness and funds to support other families living with MND.
Yesterday the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon will see over 10,000 participants take on a brand new route through Leeds that starts and finishes at Headingley Stadium. Taking in some of Leeds’ most scenic countryside and outer suburbs, the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon was a fitting tribute to the city that launched Rob’s career and which he calls home and the pair again ran alongside each other.
Leeds Rhinos even shared a video of them finishing the race together as Sinfield carried his former teammate over the line in a truly touching moment.
On the pitch where they made so many memories together, Kevin Sinfield finishes the #RobBurrowLeedsMarathon at Headingley and carries his team mate @Rob7Burrow over the line.#RunningForAMate #BandOfBrothers 💙💛 #MND

An emotional moment that sums up the togetherness of the two.
The best of teammates and the best of friends, they have a special bond and it is fitting they completed this together on the scene of so many historic nights between the two as the pair made memories together.
More than just teammates and rugby players, the pair are inspirational men.
Here are pictures from the moment:
Remarkably the story reached as far as the other side of the world with ABC and Stuff reporting the story of these “rugby league icons” in Australia and New Zealand respectively.
It is a reminder of how much the pair have done to raise money and awareness in the fight against this brutal disease.
