After seven rounds, Warrington Wolves went into Easter top of the league and unbeaten.

On Easter Saturday they maintained that record with a hard fought win against Catalans Dragons but they weren’t necessarily the better team.

They then went on to come up short against last year’s top two in the shape of Wigan Warriors and St Helens.

They have subsequently dropped to second in the league.

Now though Kevin Brown has said they have failed in the big tests.

“After seven games everyone, including a lot of the Warrington players and staff, were saying ‘let’s look at the next three weeks’,” he said on The Last Tackle.

“If you look that next three weeks they’ve probably failed against the big tests and I think they’ll be disappointed.

“I think that they’ll have taken eight from ten at the start of year, they’d have snatched your hand off.”

He went on to add that the break has come at the right time for them to reset and refresh:

“I think the break has come at the right time for them. They do need to reset and go again because they didn’t just get beat at the weekend, they got well beaten.

“I went to the game against Wigan before and they looked void for ideas, they didn’t look like they could get through that Wigan defence.

“There’s a few things that they need to fix albeit they’ll be happy with where they’re sat in the table.”
