Kevin Brown says Super League side are “underwhelming”

Huddersfield Giants have lost five of their opening nine games.

Expectations were high after some major signings this winter but injuries have worked against Ian Watson’s side.

However, former Giant Kevin Brown has said that the Giants have been “underwhelming” this season.

“I think it’s been more than slightly disappointing, I think it’s been underwhelming,” he said on BBC Five Live.

“I think the attacking players that they’ve got haven’t performed.

“If you look at that team on paper the individual names stand out. Will Pryce, Jake Connor, Tui Lolohea and you go through and there’s so many good good players but as a team they’re just not playing well together.

“I’m not sure that the balance of that side is working and I’m not sure Ian Watson knows his best combination.”

He did concede that the absence of their organisers has been key to their struggles:

“I think the fact that Theo Fages and Ollie Russell are out missing really affects that. You’ve got three very very similar types of players all playing together and at the minute it’s not contributing to good attack, so they’ve been really disappointing.”

Tonight Huddersfield head over to Hull KR hoping to stop the Robins’ brilliant form.
